About Us

The Otis Redding Center for the Arts is a multipurpose space open to students ages 5-18 who have a desire to explore their interests in all elements of music. ORCA facilitates private lessons, workshops, and summer camps to help foster student’s creativity, and instill confidence in the youth of Central Georgia.

We aim to equip students with the tools to be well-rounded individuals who can work well with others and have the self-confidence to share their ideas.

Our programs provide an opportunity for students to explore their creativity, learn to collaborate, communicate their ideas, and better express themselves.

Our Programs

Otis Music Camp is a two week music camp for students ages 12 - 18 that takes place in June. This camp is designed to empower youth to find their voice, grow as musicians, get exposed to different aspects of the music business, and learn how to better navigate an ever changing music industry. Campers will be guided by our team of world-class coaches to write original music that will be recorded in our on-site studio, and then performed at the grand finale performance.

Camp Dream is a week long arts exploration camp for students ages 5 - 11 that takes place in July. Camp Dream is designed to introduce children to the creative arts and encourage them to express themselves through music, visual arts, dance and more. Campers will work together to write an original song, skit, and put together a finale performance to showcase all that they have learned throughout the week. This camp is a wonderful way to help unlock and nurture a child’s creative potential.

Private instruction

Private lessons are one on one sessions for students ages five and up. Students taking private lessons will gain knowledge in music theory and develop a repertoire to study for the semester in preparation to perform at a recital at the end of every semester. Whether a student is looking to pursue a career in music, or simply wants to enrich their ability to express themselves through music, private lessons are a great way to allow students to grow creatively.

The New Building

The new facility for the Otis Redding Center for the Arts will open in the fall of 2024. Located steps away from Otis Redding’s 1960’s Cotton Avenue office, the center will be a central destination for youth educational programming in Downtown Macon. The center will feature lab spaces, practice rooms, and studio space for students to explore songwriting, production, performance, visual arts, and more.

Outside, an amphitheater will open up onto Downtown Macon’s main thoroughfare and serve as a venue for student performance, a music-filled community gathering space, a public face on the continued legacy of Otis Redding’s music, and a symbol of an educational dream come to fruition.

Construction is well under way!
